Abba Kyari, an Inspector General of the Police’s Intelligence Response Team and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Nigeria is suspected to be a co-conspirator of Hushpuppi. The Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) in the U.S disclosed how this reputable officer has been involved with Hushpuppi.
According to the FBI agent Andrew John Innocenti, the details online depicted Kyari’s work as has been involved in kidnapping cases not fraud so contacting Hushpuppi when he travelled to Dubai and in several other cases looks suspicious. Court documents alleged that Hushpuppi arranged for Kyari to have his co-conspirator, Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, arrested following a disagreement over sharing of proceeds of the ongoing scam.
Also in the affidavit, Kyari carried out the request and sent Hushpuppi photographs of a detained Vincent, as well as account details to receive his monetary reward. In response to these allegation the police officer said:
We traced and arrested the suspect and after investigations, we discovered there wasn’t an actual threat to anyone’s life, and they are long time friends who have money issues between them,” he said
Also in the affidavit:
ABBAS appears to have first interacted with KYARI in September 2019, when KYARI traveled to the U.A.E…Later in September, after KYARI sent ABBAS an article that discussed him arresting alleged kidnappers, ABBAS wrote, in part, to KYARI, “am really happy to be ur boy”, and later, “I promise to be a good boy to u sir.
The FBI agent added in the affidavit;
Using the phone number +234812000***—which ABBAS had saved as ‘ABBA KYARI NEW NUMB’— KYARI sent several images of himself to ABBAS in April and May 2020…Articles referred to Kyari as a “super cop” of the Nigerian Police Force, and described him as “The most Decorated Officer in the History of the Nigerian Police”…Finally, I have reviewed a certified NIV application submitted by ABBA ALHAJI KYARI, in April 2019… that KYARI used to communicate with ABBAS…
U.S. court filings unsealed this week show that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has an order to detain Abba Kyari as a Co-conspirator of Hushpuppi.
Finally, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, Abba Kyari was one of six people indicted over an elaborate scheme to defraud a Qatari businessperson of more than $1 million, masterminded by celebrity fraudster, Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas.
