Sarafa Isola met with eminent Yoruba leaders and Ohaneze Ndigbo in London on Friday, 16 July 2021 to dialogue on current security issues in the country.<\/p>\n

Amb. Sarafa Isola, the Nigeria\u2019s UK Envoy Meets with Igbo<\/a> and Yoruba<\/a> Leaders In London to dialogue on current Insecurity issues, was understood that the meetings centered on the efforts of the federal government<\/a> to tackle internal security in Nigeria<\/a>, which has been plagued by insecurity in recent years.<\/p>\n

The Yoruba<\/a> and Igbo<\/a> leaders expressed their belief in the unity of Nigeria<\/a> and the need to preserve it as a corporate entity.<\/p>\n

The Igbo<\/a> leaders called for equity, justice and fairness in the country, and for the Igbo<\/a> to be accorded their rightful position in the Nigeria<\/a> project.<\/p>\n

On their part, the Yoruba<\/a> leaders also spoke on the need for Nigerian unity, adding that the Yoruba<\/a> people would continue to remain in Nigeria<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, they demanded that power should progress to the various components of the federation through restructuring and federalism.<\/p>\n

They reiterated the need for true federalism as canvassed by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a position the sage held until his death.<\/p>\n

The Yoruba<\/a> leaders were led to the meeting by Chief Adebayo Oladimeji, a Chartered Biologist and Chairman of Nigerian Elders in the UK.<\/p>\n

The Ohaneze team was led by the President of the group in the UK, Dr Nnanna Igwe, a medical practitioner.<\/p>\n

Both parties also stressed the need for dialogue and continuous engagement on matters of concern to all Nigerians, particularly those in the UK.<\/p>\n
